This is ludicrous. My Forum was hijacked! Some dumbass posted a comment containing code to forward the forum to another page saying “You’ve been hacked. Call me for help.”
Idiot! I had to go into my database directly to delete the entry. This is silly! I hope I don’t have to add a security feature, like a password or CAPTCHAS.
Stupid me Expounded Thusly:
And for us techno-illiterates, CAPTCHAS would be … ?
Steek the Geve Expounded Thusly:
CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart. They are those little boxes that have distorted characters in them that you have to type on some online forms as a security measure to make sure a person and not an automated program is filling out the form.
Oh, and the Turing test concept was devised in 1950. The concept is if you can not tell the difference between a person and a computer in a conversation, the computer has passed the test. It is used as a method to judge how “human” a computer is.
Finally, a geek is someone who knows these things.
Jud the Stohn Expounded Thusly:
So, other than Anthony Daniels and my old boss at Disney (whose pulled-back skin made her look like an AA figure in need of repair), has any computer or robot passed the test?
Stevebot Expounded Thusly:
I believe the answer is no, no computer has passed the Turing test. Which, I guess, is why it’s still part of the landscape and held up as a goal for which to strive.
Sorry, I ain't takin' no comments on this page. Deal, y'hear?
